Learn about the compatibility between the latest Creative Cloud 2019 apps and Windows and macOS operating systems.

Focusing our development efforts on modern versions of Windows and Mac operating systems allows us to concentrate on developing the features and functionality most requested by you, while ensuring peak performance that takes advantage of modern hardware. To take advantage of the continued developments in hardware and software, Creative Cloud 2019 apps do not support some older OS versions. You will not be able to install or run Creative Cloud 2019 apps unless you’re on a supported version of Windows or macOS.

Creative Cloud 2019 apps are available for Windows 7, Windows 10 or later, and macOS Sierra 10.12 or later. 2019 versions of Digital Video products require the newest versions of Windows 10 and macOS Sierra or later. Windows 8.1 or early Windows 10 versions are not supported.

Note:

If you’re running Windows 8.1, Windows 10 v1511 and v1607, or Mac OS 10.11 (El Capitan), you can continue to run and install previous versions of Creative Cloud applications.

Creative Cloud Desktop app, which manages application installations, will continue to be supported on Windows 7 or later and Mac OS X v10.9 or later, so that if you're unable to upgrade your OS right now, you can continue to use earlier versions of Creative Cloud apps.

Future versions of Creative Cloud will not support Windows 7.

In order to take advantage of the latest operating system features and technologies, Creative Cloud 2019 apps require macOS Sierra (10.12) or later. If you're on an older version of Mac OS X, Apple provides a free update to macOS Mojave.

In order to take advantage of the latest operating system features and technologies, Creative Cloud 2020 apps require Windows 10 v1809 or later. If you're on an older version, Microsoft provides a free update to the latest version of Windows 10.

The latest version of Creative Cloud apps does not support Windows 8.1. Microsoft discontinued mainstream support for Windows 8.1 in January 2018.

To take advantage of the latest features in the Creative Cloud 2019 apps, you'll need to upgrade your OS to a compatible version of Windows 10. If you're unable to upgrade to Windows 10 right now, you can continue to work with previous versions of Creative Cloud apps. However, you won't be able to use newly introduced apps, such as Premiere Rush or Adobe XD.

Adobe neither supports nor recommends that you install Creative Cloud 2019 apps on unsupported versions of operating systems.

Adobe and Apple have worked closely together to test Adobe Creative Cloud applications and Adobe Creative Suite 6 applications for reliability, performance, and user experience when installed on Intel-based systems running Mac OS X Mavericks (v10.9). All Adobe CC and CS6 products are compatible, but a few products require updates to the latest builds to work properly. Adobe Photoshop CS5, CS4, and CS3 were also tested with Mac OS X Mavericks, and currently there are no known major issues.

As with any new release of an operating system, there could be unexpected issues that arise that were not discovered during testing. If you encounter any issues, report them using the bug reporting form.

Creative Cloud

If updates for Mac OS X Mavericks (10.9) compatibility with Creative Cloud or Creative Suite products are required, they are made available in the following ways:

  • Active Creative Cloud members receive updates. You are notified of any updates via the Creative Cloud desktop app or through the desktop application itself.
  • For nonsubscription versions, updates are made through the Adobe Updater, a utility that is installed with Adobe products to manage downloading and installing updates for you. As long as the automated notification feature in Adobe Updater is turned on, you are alerted automatically when the updates become available. You can then follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the updates.
  • Alternatively, if you own a CS6 product that requires an update, you can open the CS6 product, choose Help > Updates to open the Adobe Updater. Then, check all of the updates you want, and then click Download and Install Updates.
  • Lastly, you can also visit the downloads page on Adobe.com to monitor when updates are posted. Then, you can download and install the updates for each relevant product.
