About the App

  • App name: avrdude
  • App description: Atmel AVR MCU programmer
  • App website: Not Available

My Dad has recently given me his old AVR Butterfly and I thought I'd do a little bit of playing around with it. Does anyone know of a decent tool chain that is easy to setup and configure for AVR's on OS X? I've found a few tutorials for building my own cross compiler and associated tool chain.

Change Extensions preferences on Mac. On your Mac, use Extensions System Preferences to enable and disable Apple and third-party Mac extensions. Extensions, such as Markup, add extra functionality to apps, the Finder, and the Touch Bar. You can also select extensions to include in the Share menu, and select widgets for Today view in Notification Center. People access share extensions by clicking a Share button in the toolbar or choosing Share in a contextual menu. When activated, a share extension either displays an edit view—to add a comment, for example—or switches to the corresponding app and performs a task—like an import. To do this, open the Share menu for the app in question and then click “More”. This will open the Extensions preferences. Click on “Share Menu” in the lefthand pane. Select unchecked items to add them to the Share menu, or deselect checked items to remove them. Checkboxes that are greyed out are permanent Share menu features and cannot be removed. Add to mac sharing menu extensions for gmail. Open the Apple menu. Click System Preferences. Double-click Extensions. Click Share Menu. Select apps to add or remove.

Install the App

  1. Press Command+Space and type Terminal and press enter/return key.
  2. Run in Terminal app:
    ruby -e '$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)' < /dev/null 2> /dev/null
    and press enter/return key.
If the screen prompts you to enter a password, please enter your Mac's user password to continue. When you type the password, it won't be displayed on screen, but the system would accept it. So just type your password and press ENTER/RETURN key. Then wait for the command to finish.
  3. Run:
    brew install avrdude

Done! You can now use avrdude.
