QR codes for WhatsApp can come handy when sharing your number with new people whether you run a business account, a support group, or other communities.

Starting a chat with a new contact on WhatsApp isn’t a user-friendly task. You have to save the contact on your phone first, then open it using WhatsApp and only after that, you can start chatting. You can leapfrog all those steps by creating QR codes for your WhatsApp profile.

Unlike its siblings — Facebook and Instagram, currently, WhatsApp doesn’t offer a native way to generate or scan QR codes. But that doesn’t mean you cannot create one. In this post, you will learn how to create and scan QR codes for WhatsApp.

Create QR Codes for WhatsApp

To generate a QR code for your number or a group chat, you must first create a link followed by creating its QR code. Here’s how to do both.

Generate Link

There is a different process to create a link for personal or business profiles and group chats. Let’s start with personal numbers.

Create Link for Personal Number

With the Click to Chat feature of WhatsApp, we can generate a link for any WhatsApp number. Once generated, all you have to do is share the link, and the chat will open automatically by tapping on it.

To create a link for your number, you will have to use this link: https://wa.me/[WhatsAppNumber] where [WhatsApp Number] is your full phone number in international format.

For example, if your number is 91987654321, where 91 is the country code, the link will be https://wa.me/91987654321.

Note: Do not add any zeroes, brackets, or dashes to the number.

If you want, you can have a pre-filled message attached to the number. For that, use this link: https://wa.me/WhatsAppNumber/?text=urlencodedtext.

So, the link will become https://wa.me/91987654321/?text=hi.

When you click on such links, it will directly open in WhatsApp — both on your phone and WhatsApp Web.

Create Link for Business Profile

If you use WhatsApp Business app, you don’t have to create the link as shown above manually. Fortunately, the app comes with Short Link option, among other features, which generates a link automatically. All you have to do is copy it. To view the Short Link, go to WhatsApp Settings > Business Settings > Short Link.

When you update to iOS 11 or even iOS 12, chances are that the settings of your iOS device go through some alterations which can be a reason for WhatsApp notifications not working on iPhone. As a result, it is likely to happen that your notifications are not allowed on your iPhone now. Therefore, the first thing you need to do is checking if you have enabled the notification and set an Alert style or not. Follow the steps below for this.

  • Tap on 'Settings' and go to 'Notifications'.
  • Tap on 'WhatsApp' and enable 'Allow Notifications' if it is disabled.
  • Now, another thing is to enable the 'Sound' option.
  • Last, enable all the 'Alerts' options.

2. Force Restart Your iPhone

If the WhatsApp notification is still not working, the best thing you can try to fix WhatsApp notifications on iPhone in iOS 12 is to force restart your device. For this, just press and keep hold the 'Sleep/Wake' and 'Home' (Volume Down button for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus) buttons for 10 seconds simultaneously. When you find Apple logo coming, release the buttons and the device will restart. This will probably fix the problem.

For iPhone 8 and iPhone X, you need quick press 'Volume Down' and then 'Volume Up', then keep pressing side button until you see the Apple logo. If this fix goes futile then jump to the next method.

3. Remove the WhatsApp App and Reinstall It

Removing the WhatsApp app from your device and reinstalling it is another tip you can try when WhatsApp notification is not working on iPhone in iOS 11.4 or iOS 12. But before doing this, it is recommended to backup your WhatsApp messages since removing the app will result in the loss of all your messages.

To make an individual backup of your WhatsApp messages, you can use iCloud or use iMyFone iTransor (iOS 12 supported) which is a free iPhone backup tool that allows you to back up an individual app on your iPhone instead of whole the data (iPhone 8/X supported). In other words, there is no need to back up the whole device like using iTunes; you will be able to backup only WhatsApp messages with it. This tool will not affect any other data on iPhone and won't overwrite any data when you restore the backup to your iPhone. Therefore, it would be the best option to backup WhatsApp messages separately if your iCloud storage is not enough.

  • Enter your passcode and then tap on 'Reset Network Settings' again to confirm.

Please remember that this method will remove all your network settings like Wi-Fi passwords, so make sure to write the password down or you will get into another trouble after performing this method.

5. Reset All Settings

Sadly if WhatsApp notification problem in iOS 12 or iOS 11.4 continues, resetting settings can give assistance. This can be done by:

  • Going to 'Settings' and hit 'General'.
